Cristallo Tiffany green quartzite is a metamorphic quartzite from Brazil, cut as slab with a light green field, crystalline white patches, dark green veins and touches of taupe and brown. Geologically it is a former sandstone whose quartz grains were fused under heat and pressure into a crystalline mass, which is why it reads about Mohs 7: harder than a knife blade. That fact is the whole purchasing argument, because the trade sells marble and dolomitic marble under the quartzite name, and the Natural Stone Institute states plainly that there is no such thing as soft quartzite, so a slab that etches under lemon juice is not quartzite whatever its label says.
Every Cristallo Tiffany green quartzite lot we ship therefore goes through the glass, knife and acid tests at intake, and the result is written on the bundle sheet with the block number; a lot that reads carbonate is sold as marble and said so before the invoice. Sourcing is equally plain, because we do not own a Brazilian quarry: blocks come through direct block agreements, and Cristallo Tiffany is a trade name rather than a geological one, so we identify stock by block number and test result.

Quality Control & Inspection Standards
Identity test at block intake
An unsealed, un-epoxied face is tested with a glass scratch, a knife blade and a drop of 5% to 10% hydrochloric acid, and the powdered-rock acid test follows where the drop reads inconclusive; a lot that bubbles is carbonate, so it is re-classified as marble and is not sold as Cristallo Tiffany green quartzite.
Ultrasonic flaw detection on raw blocks
Blocks are scanned for internal cracks before the gang saw, because a fissure that survives cutting opens later in a countertop run or a stair tread.
Gang saw cutting and calibration
Slabs are cut on multi-blade gang saw to +/-1mm, or +/-0.5mm on calibrated orders, since a 20mm slab running thin shows at every joint of a book-matched pair.
Polish line and gloss reading
The slab passes the automatic polishing line and is then read with a photoelectric gloss meter against the batch standard, with the reading logged per bundle.

Is Cristallo Tiffany a marble or quartzite?
It is a quartzite, and on this material the label proves nothing, so test it. Quartzite is about Mohs 7 and shows no reaction to diluted acid; marble and dolomitic marble are softer and fizz. We test every lot and print the result.
Cristallo Tiffany vs Patagonia quartzite: how do you tell them apart?
Both are Brazilian quartzite and the names are trade names, not geological ones, so some suppliers use Patagonia Green and Cristallo Tiffany interchangeably. Visually Patagonia runs darker emerald with landscape-scale ivory and amber, while Cristallo Tiffany is lighter and crystalline. Buy on block number.
How does Cristallo Tiffany differ from Botanic Green quartzite?
