Blue Green Onyx Slab is a calcite-based stone cut in Xiamen into 2400x1600mm big slabs at 18, 20, or 30mm, with a deep blue-green field crossed by brown and cream vein lines that run in one direction through the block. Onyx is softer than marble or granite - Mohs 3 on the calcite scale - so it saws fast and passes light, which is why every onyx specification carries sealing and backing with it. Blocks come in against a sealed reference sample, so a repeat order is matched from the block number rather than a photograph. As a china stone factory, we cut to your drawing: tiles, vanity tops with sink cutout, table tops, and book-matched pairs, all factory customized, and the slab set is numbered for the installer.

Quality Standards
Slab quality is settled before the stone leaves the yard, which is part of an onyx slab supplier's job that a buyer cannot check from a photograph. On a backlit order, the governing inspection is done under transmission, not under workshop lighting, and it runs in the same sequence as the production line: refuse the block, check the polish, dry-lay the set, then crate the stones with the record that proves what was checked.

Block selection before the gangsaw
Blocks are opened against the sealed reference sample and rejected for open fissures or clay-filled vugs; those two defects are what turn into a patch on a backlit wall twelve months later.

Cutting, resin filling and gloss logging
Slabs are cut on the bridge saw to +/-1mm, resin-filled where the natural voids break the surface, then polished and checked with a gloss meter against the approved sample, with the reading logged per bundle.

Light-table review and dry-lay of book-matched pairs
Every slab on a backlit order is reviewed on a light table - a dark patch, a resin cloud or a vein that runs against the set is visible under transmission and invisible under workshop lighting - and matched pairs are dry-laid against each other, numbered and photographed as a set.

Packing and shipping documents
Finished slabs travel face to face in a fumigated wooden A-frame, film and foam lined and steel-banded; the light-table photographs and the numbered set list go into the crate with the fumigation certificate, and REACH (EC) 1907/2006 documentation is issued with the shipping documents for European buyers.

30mm slab for a tabletop on a timber or steel base, 20mm for an island front or splashback. Onyx is a soft stone, and it is not a working surface: it takes a hot pan mark and a knife score where granite does not, so it belongs on the island front, the bar top, and the table top rather than on the primary prep area. Weight matters at this thickness, and it is quoted per project.
Hotel lobbies, reception desks and feature walls
The standard use for a backlit onyx slab panel. The set is specified as a booked pair so the vein line is continuous across the joint, and the panel is set into an aluminium sub-frame with a rear air gap for the LED strip, so heat does not sit against the stone and the joint line falls on the vein direction rather than against it. Slabs destined for backlighting are cut consecutively and shipped in the same sequence, because a replacement slab pulled from another bundle will not match under transmission even when it matches under daylight.
