Product Introduction
granite green stone

Chengde Green is a dark green granite quarried in the Chengde district of Hebei province, in northern China, and it reaches a buyer under at least ten trade names: G747, China Green, Hebei Green, Yanshan Green, Chengde Yanshan Green, Chengde Yanshan Lue, Yanshan Lue, Chinese Green, Cactus Green, and 中国绿 in the domestic market. It is a plutonic granite - the rock cooled and crystallised inside the crust, which is what produced the interlocking crystal structure and the coarse speckled ground - and it is not volcanic. Volcanic rock such as basalt or rhyolite is a different family with a different pore structure, and the distinction is not academic, because it is the crystal interlock that carries granite's strength and holds its absorption low. A page that calls this stone volcanic is describing the wrong rock.

Quality Standards

Quality Control & Inspection Standards

YoYo Stone enforces a rigorous six-stage quality verification protocol for every commercial production run of Chengde Green Granite:

Weight Read By Scale

Every finished bundle is weighed before it is closed, and the weighed figure is written on the label next to the calculated figure from the load plan.

01

Thickness Read Per Square

Thickness is not spot-checked at the corners; it is read per square metre at the points marked on the load plan, because the mass consequence of a drift is spread across the whole area rather than concentrated in one tile.

02

Block Number On Bundle

Every bundle, crate and pallet label carries the block number the stone was sawn from, and the sealed sample number that was approved against it.

03

Green Read Against Sample

Colour is judged against the sealed physical sample under the light the project will use, in the dry state for interior work and wet for anything permanently damp, and never against a screen.

04

Surface Porosity and Efflorescence Testing

Because dense green granites are frequently specified for exterior water features and splash zones, core samples from each block undergo submersion testing to verify zero alkaline salt leaching.

Typical Project & Application Scenarios

Kerbs, Channels and Municipal Paving

A municipal paving package is where this stone earns its place, because the specification is written on mass and on wear rather than on figure. Kerbs, channels and paving carry a nominal thickness in the schedule and a permissible weight in the tender, and a dense granite meets the second while holding the first, which is why the same material is quoted for both the flatwork and the edge restraint instead of two stones being bought.

Green is also a practical public-realm colour: it reads as vegetated rather than as paving at a distance, and it holds its depth where a pale granite would show every tyre mark. Because the flatwork and the edge restraint share one block reference, the plaza and its kerb do not drift apart in colour across a phased delivery.

Pool Surrounds and Wet Decks

A pool surround is an unusual specification because the stone is permanently wet on one part of its surface and dry on the rest, so the colour it is chosen for is the wet colour rather than the dry one. The low absorption matters here for a second reason, because a surround that holds water also holds it against the bedding, and the bedding is where a wet deck fails first.

Slip is dealt with through the finish instead of through the stone: the deck takes a flamed or bush hammered surface and the coping above the water line a honed or polished one. Anything within the splash zone is cut from one bundle so the wet colour reads as one surface.

FAQ

Everything You Want To Know

green granite texture

01. What is Chengde Green granite also called?

Chengde Green is sold as G747, China Green, Hebei Green, Yanshan Green, Chengde Yanshan Green, Yanshan Lue and Cactus Green, and as 中国绿 in China. Ten names describe the same granite from the Chengde district in Hebei. A purchase order therefore names the district and requires a block reference.

02.  Is Chengde Green granite volcanic?

No. Chengde Green is a plutonic granite, an intrusive igneous rock that crystallised below the surface and produced the interlocking crystal structure behind its strength. Volcanic rock such as basalt or rhyolite cooled at the surface and has a different pore structure.

03.  How much does Chengde Green granite weigh per square metre?

58.8 kg per square metre at 20 mm, 88.2 kg at 30 mm and 117.6 kg at 40 mm, calculated from the published 2.94 g/cm³. One millimetre of thickness is 2.94 kg per square metre, which is why the thickness tolerance and the container loading plan are agreed together.

04.  Does green granite fade in sunlight?

The colour is mineral, not a pigment, so sunlight does not bleach it the way it fades a dyed stone. What changes outdoors is the surface: weathering dulls a polished face, and the green reads deeper when the stone is wet. Colour is judged against a sealed sample.

05.  What thickness tolerance applies to Chengde Green slabs?

Thickness is cut to the nominal on the cutting drawing and held per piece, with the tolerance named in the offer and checked against the load plan. Because one millimetre is 2.94 kg per square metre, a wider tolerance is a decision about freight, not only about the stone.
