Product Introduction

irish connemara green marble

Irish green marble is a trade name rather than a place: in stone trade usage it covers dark green, pale-veined marbles, and the genuine article is Connemara marble from County Galway in western Ireland, a serpentine-bearing calcsilicate of the Dalradian sequence that was metamorphosed during the Ordovician, roughly 466 to 478 million years ago. The Irish green marble slab sold here is quarried in Fujian Province, China and shipped from our Xiamen works, which is what a buyer comparing it against Galway stock needs to know before ordering a container. Colour is a deep green ground carrying paler green and white veining, and the vein pattern runs in bands through the block, so slabs are cut and dry-laid in sequence to keep a wall or a counter run continuous.

Quality Standards

Quality Control & Inspection Standards

Quality on this material is decided in six places, and none of them is a visual judgement made at the end of the line. Green marble is graded on the face a slab was cut from, the thickness it holds across the plate, and the order in which the veins sit across a lot, so what the checks below produce is an audit trail: a yard number on the block card, a gauge reading taken at four points, a photograph of the dry-laid sequence. Those same records answer the provenance question the trade name leaves open, which is why the block card and the loading photograph travel with every crate.

Irish Green Marble

01

Block intake in the yard

Every Irish green marble block is photographed on arrival and given a yard number, and the face is checked for fissures before it is released to the saw.

02

Sawing, squaring and thickness

Slabs are cut on the gang saw, squared on the carriage, and gauged for thickness at four points across the face rather than at the centre alone. Uncalibrated faces are released to +/-2mm;

03

Backing inspection

Where a slab is resined or mesh-backed, coverage is checked for dry patches and lifted mesh and the piece is rejected at the line rather than at the port.

04

Dry-lay and vein sequencing

Project lots are laid out flat in the order they will be installed, photographed, and numbered on the slab edge as well as on the packing list.

Products Application

Typical Project & Application Scenarios

Hotel and villa interiors

Reception walls, lift lobbies and feature panels, where the vein is laid to run with the architecture. Contemporary hotel work asks for green marble wall cladding in panel form, and the panels are cut and numbered from one lot so the pattern carries across a run.

Kitchen countertops and islands

Perimeter tops, island tops and full-height splash panels in 20mm or 30mm, honed or polished. The face is sealed before packing, and honed green marble countertops are the usual specification where a kitchen will see daily citrus and wine.

Bathroom vanity tops and shower walls

Vanity tops with sink cutouts and faucet holes worked to template, plus cladding panels for shower walls and niches. Green marble reads strongly against pale sanitaryware, which is why it stays in specification for villa and apartment bathrooms.

Interior floors and steps

The directional veining is engineered for continuous visual layouts across large vertical spans. Utilizing factory customized CNC fabrication, we align the crystalline patterns to produce symmetrical, book-matched wall panels for corporate boardrooms, hotel elevator lobbies, and luxury residential accents.

FAQ

Everything You Want To Know

Irland Green 2

01. Is Irish green marble the same stone as Connemara marble, and where is yours quarried?

The name covers more than one stone. Connemara marble is quarried in County Galway, Ireland, a green serpentine-bearing calcsilicate. The Irish green marble slab we supply is quarried in Fujian Province, China and shipped from Xiamen, and we quote it on that basis.

02.  Does Irish green marble etch, and what does it take to keep countertops looking right?

It is a carbonate marble, so lemon, wine, vinegar and tomato left standing will dull a polished face. We seal honed and polished tops before packing, and recommend a penetrating sealer every twelve to eighteen months with spills wiped promptly, not left overnight.

03.  What slab sizes and thickness tolerance can you hold on Irish green marble slab?

Big slabs run 2400up x 1200up mm and 2400up x 1400up mm in 18mm, 20mm, 25mm and 30mm. Calibrated slabs and tiles are held to plus or minus one millimetre, gauged at four points across the face, so two pieces butt level at the joint.

04.  How is a container of green marble slabs loaded, and what breakage allowance should we budget?

Slabs travel upright in fumigated A-frame bundles with corner protection. A 2400x1200mm slab at 20mm weighs about 158 kg, so a 20ft is weight-limited at roughly 135 to 140 slabs. Budget one to two percent loss and we hold spares.

05.  Can you book-match green marble panels for a wall run, and what is the minimum order?

Book-matched pairs are cut from adjacent slabs, dry-laid, photographed and numbered before packing, so the pattern mirrors at the joint. Minimum order is one crate, and a free sample off the actual block goes out before you commit to a panel schedule.
