Product Introduction

Cloudy Beige is a Turkish beige marble quarried in the Siirt district, also traded as Bulutlu Bej and Siirt Beji, cut by YoYo Stone in Xiamen into gang saw slabs and tiles. It reads as a soft beige field with white cloud patches and fossil traces, so the figure is directional and a large floor is laid from one block group, not crate by crate. Block supply is bought against a sealed reference sample, and blocks are graded before the gang saw for open fissures, iron spots, and heavy fossil clusters that polish up as dark patches. Cloudy Beige is a directional stone, so inspection here is aimed at the two failures that appear after installation rather than at the slab face: a shade break across a floor laid from mixed crates, and a fossil or iron pocket that opens once the slab is cut and polished. Both are settled at block selection and again on the dry-lay floor, before the crate is packed.

Block numbering and slab sequencing

Blocks are opened against the sealed reference sample and rejected for open fissures, iron spots, and heavy fossil clusters, because an iron pocket that polishes up as a dark patch cannot be sorted out later at the tile saw.

Calibration and finish verification

Slabs and tiles are calibrated to +/-1mm, with +/-0.5mm on calibrated tile, and polished faces are checked with a gloss meter against the approved sample; honed, flamed and sandblasted surfaces are checked against their own approved panel.

Dry-lay and shade grouping

Every floor order is dry-laid under factory lighting, sorted by background shade and figure direction, then numbered bundle by bundle, so a multi-room floor is laid crate by crate in the order we packed it.

Packing and loading documents

Tiles are crated on pallets with foam and a waterproof lining; slabs travel face to face in A-frame bundles under steel straps, all in fumigated crates. Loading photographs and the crate list are issued with the shipping documents.

01. How do you keep the shade even across a large Cloudy Beige floor?

Order the floor from one block group and one gang saw bundle. We cut sequentially, dry-lay the tiles under factory lighting, and number every crate, so a floor laid across several rooms does not break shade at a crate boundary.

02. Does Cloudy Beige marble need sealing, and how often?

Yes. Marble absorbs water at a published 0.2–0.6%, so a penetrating sealer goes on at fabrication and again on site once the grout has cured. In bathrooms and kitchens, renew it every 12–18 months, using a pH-neutral cleaner and never an acid descaler.

03. Can Cloudy Beige be used outdoors in a freeze-thaw climate?

With care. Polished marble is not an exterior paving stone in frost regions; specify flamed or sandblasted at 30mm, seal it, and check the water absorption against your local freeze-thaw cycles. Granite or quartzite remains the safer exterior paving choice.

04. How are Cloudy Beige tiles and slabs packed and loaded for sea freight?

Tiles travel in fumigated wooden crates on pallets with foam and a waterproof lining; slabs face to face in A-frame bundles under steel straps. Loading photographs and the crate list go with the documents, and the container is weight-planned before it is closed.

05. How much cutting loss should we budget when converting slabs into 60x60 tiles?
