Products Description
Colorful Gray Marble is a Chinese marble quarried in China and traded worldwide as Color Grey Marble, Multicolored Gray Marble and Multicolor Grey Marble. Its field is a mid-grey carbonate ground veined with cream, brown and charcoal streaks that run one way through the block. Because the figure is sedimentary rather than fixed, vein spacing changes from slab to slab, so Colorful Gray Marble lots are dry-laid and numbered before crating.
YoYo Stone buys the block first-hand and processes it at our Xiamen works on gang saws and infrared bridge saws, which lets one order ship as gang saw slabs, small slabs, tiles, cut-to-size pieces or countertop blanks. The material is calcite-based marble reading Mohs 3-4, so a polished face will etch where lemon, wine or vinegar is left standing. That carbonate chemistry governs specification more than compressive strength does: interior floors, vanities, counters and drained vertical cladding work, exterior paving and saturated pool copings do not. Slabs are dry-laid for colour continuity, packed on A-frames in fumigated crates, and loaded at Xiamen with the loading diagram issued alongside the packing list.

Block and slab sorting in the block yard
Every Colorful Gray Marble block is photographed on arrival and given a yard number.

Sawing, squaring and calibration
Gang saw slabs are squared on the block carriage and then calibrated on a bridge saw with an infrared fence.

Backing and resin checks on thin material
Pieces cut at 1.5cm and 1.8cm are backed with fibreglass mesh or resin before handling, because a calcite marble loses edge strength as thickness drops.

Dry-lay, book-match and numbering
Each project lot is laid out flat in sequence. Book-match pairs are cut from one block, dry-laid, and photographed.

Kitchen countertops and backsplash:
Perimeter runs, island tops and full-height splash panels are cut from the same block so the veining carries up the wall. Finishes are honed or polished with a penetrating sealer; the two millimetre rule matters here, because a thick slab front reads differently from a calibrated tile on the same cabinetry.
Bathroom vanities and wet-wall cladding:
Vanity tops, splashbacks and shower wall panels are cut to template, with eased or bullnose edges, pre-drilled faucet holes and sink cutouts. Grey marble countertop work in bathrooms is specified in honed finish, which hides water-mark bloom better than polish.
Commercial interiors and reception walls:
Hotel lobbies, office receptions and retail fit-outs use Colorful Gray Marble where a continuous veined field is wanted behind a desk or along a lift lobby. Book-matched pairs are supplied as a numbered set, and the layout drawing fixes the joint lines before cutting starts.
Interior floors, stairs and windowsills:
Laid in light-traffic areas such as lobbies, corridors, stair treads, risers and deep windowsills, sealed and dry-maintained. Thin-bed adhesive over a flat screed keeps lippage inside tolerance on 10mm calibrated tiles.

Can you book-match Colorful Gray Marble slabs and control shade variation across a large area?
Book-match pairs are cut from one block and dry-laid at the factory, then numbered. For large floor areas we sort slabs into two or three shade groups and issue a layout drawing, so foreground and background veining stay continuous across the Colorful Gray Marble installation.
Does Colorful Gray Marble countertop etch, and what maintenance keeps a polished face intact?
It is calcite marble at Mohs 3-4, so lemon, wine, vinegar and tomato left standing will dull a polished face. We seal honed Colorful Gray Marble countertops before packing, and specify a penetrating sealer every twelve to eighteen months plus immediate wiping of spills.
Can Colorful Gray Marble be used outdoors on exteriors in cold climates?
Vertical exterior cladding works in mild climates when the face is honed or flammed, the cavity is drained and ventilated, and bedding is dry. Freeze-thaw zones and saturated pool copings are not advised: water in the fissures expands and spalls the surface, so specify granite there instead.
How are Colorful Gray Marble slabs packed for shipping, and what breakage allowance should we budget?
Gang saw slabs ship upright in fumigated A-frame crates, ten to twelve per bundle. Colorful Gray Marble runs about 2.7 tonnes per cubic metre, so a 20ft carries 20 to 22 tonnes. Budget one to two percent loss; we reserve two spare slabs per lot.
