Product Introduction

G655 Granite is the one material on our list whose quarry is local, and that changes the arithmetic first: the block is quarried near Tong'an, a district of Xiamen itself, so the stone does not cross an ocean before it becomes slab, a block can be read in person, a sample cut and couriered the same week, and a run that comes up short topped up from the quarry rather than from a forwarder's schedule. To be precise about what that is and is not, the quarry is not ours; our own three quarries are G603 in Wuhan and the new G654 and Nero Santiago in Shandong, and G655 is none of them, so the block is bought first-hand from the local operator rather than won from our own face. G655 Granite is a medium-grained rock sold as a granite but classed petrographically as a diorite, with a white ground carrying evenly distributed light grey spots, and it travels under several names: Sunny White Granite, Tong'an White, Hazel White and Rice Grain White, which is why two suppliers quoting three of those names may be quoting the same block.
Products Description
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Product Name | G655 Granite; Brand: YoYo Stone |
| Also Listed As | g655 granite, g655 granite slab, Sunny White Granite, Tong'an White, Hazel White, Rice Grain White Granite, white granite with light grey spots |
| Stone Type | A medium-grained diorite quarried near Tong'an in Fujian, China, of Precambrian age, sold throughout the trade as a granite. Not a marble and not an engineered surface |
| Origin | China. Block bought first-hand from the quarry operator near Tong'an, Xiamen, rather than a distant broker. Our own three quarries are G603 Wuhan, new G654 and Nero Santiago, in Shandong |
| Primary Colour | White ground with evenly distributed light grey spots |
| Surface Finishes | Polished and honed as standard; flamed, flamed plus brushed, sawn, bush hammered, sandblasted and antique on request |
| Available Thickness | 15mm, 18mm, 20mm, 30mm and 40mm; other thicknesses cut to request |
| Gangsaw Slab | 1700-2700 x 600-1500 x 18-30mm, or cut to your drawing |
| Countertop and Vanity Top | Countertop 96x26 in, 108x26 in, 72x36 in and 96x16 in; vanity top 25x22 in, 31x22 in, 37x22 in, 49x22 in and 61x22 in; customized design available |
| Table Top and Other Work | Table tops square or round to your drawing; wall and floor tiles, window sills, wall cladding, balusters, staircases and pillar or column cladding |
| Thickness Tolerance | +/-1mm as the house standard, or +/-0.5mm on calibrated tile |
| Water Absorption | 0.02 percent on the published sheet. Sealing is applied regardless, because the figure describes the material rather than the joint at the fixing |
| Density | About 2.76 g/cm3, so about 55kg per square metre at 20mm and 83kg at 30mm |
| Strength | Specified as granite dimension stone to ASTM C615: not less than 131 MPa compressive and 10.34 MPa modulus of rupture. A test report is supplied per lot |
| Staining and Fixings | A light granite shows marks a dark one hides, and the mark that matters is rust from water contact with iron. Fixings are stainless; the underside is sealed before bedding |
| Care | A penetrating sealer on the face, re-applied on cycle and checked with a water bead test. Never use vinegar, lemon or descaler on a rust mark: acid mobilises the iron |
| Project Decoration | Commercial buildings, residential apartments and gardens; exterior and interior wall and floor applications, monuments, countertops, mosaic, fountains, pool and wall capping, stairs and window sills |
| Exterior Wall Advice | For exterior wall work we suggest 25mm to 30mm in a polished, honed or flamed finish, because a thin facade tile is a handling problem rather than a strength problem |
| Minimum Order, Samples and Port | One crate, with small trial orders accepted and mixed sizes consolidated. Free sample with freight paid by the buyer, refunded against the order; Port Xiamen, China |
| Inspection and Service | Product pictures and progress updates issued against the order, with QC inspection by the buyer, the buyer's representative or a third-party agent all accepted |
Quality Standards
Quality Control & Inspection Standards
YoYo Stone enforces a rigorous six-stage quality verification protocol for every commercial production run of G655 Granite:
Block read at the quarry for colour and for spotting
Blocks are read for the evenness of the white ground and for concentrations of dark mineral, since a cluster of iron-bearing spots in one face is where a rust bloom will appear first on a light stone.
01
Sawing, thickness and calibration
Slabs are gangsaw cut and measured to +/-1mm, or +/-0.5mm on calibrated tile, and flatness is read across the diagonal, since a light granite reveals a shadow line at a joint more readily than a dark one.
02
Face finish and gloss reading
Polished faces are read on a gloss meter against the value written on the order, and flamed or honed faces are checked for evenness, because a patch that is glossier than the field catches the light differently on a white ground.
03
Sealing before the stone leaves, face, edges and underside
The face and the cut edges are sealed and the date entered on the packing list, and the underside is sealed on any order that will be bedded in mortar, since water drawn in from a wet bed is how a rust stain starts.
04
Dry lay and numbering for one elevation
Slabs and tiles for a single facade or floor are laid out, read together and numbered in sequence, because a white granite that drifts in tone between bundles reads as two materials once it is fixed.
05
Products Application
Typical Project & Application Scenarios

Interior flooring in entrance halls and public areas
A light floor that lifts a dark interior, laid from one numbered dry lay so the tone holds across a long run. The door line is where the finish is actually decided, because a honed or flamed face carries the wet zone where rain is walked in and polish only works beyond it, whatever the sample board suggests. The grid is set to the slab module with the joints on the setting-out drawing, so the offcuts return to the floor instead of to the crate.
Kitchen countertops and vanity tops
A granite top at 20mm or 30mm with the sink cut on a machine and the edges profiled, sealed at fabrication, in a stone that acid leaves alone. At 30mm the stone alone runs about 83kg per square metre, which the carcass, the brackets and the delivery all have to be planned for rather than discovered on site. The cutout edge is the one place on a countertop where water reaches unsealed stone and sits there, so on a white granite that edge and the underside around it are sealed at fabrication, and the fixings in a vanity or a wet run are stainless or non-ferrous.
